Drake A. Eserhaut is a PhD candidate at the University of Kansas within the Jayhawk Athletic Performance Laboratory, as well as a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS). As a nationally certified phlebotomist, Drake's research focuses on the acute endocrine responses to resistance exercise and sport, with a primary interest in the application of blood flow restricted resistance exercise (BFR+RE) in strength and power athletes. In collaboration with colleagues, research is also being conducted using near infrared spectroscopy (NIRS) technologies to evaluate skeletal muscle oxygen kinetics during BFR resistance exercise protocols and the potential utility of NIRS for performance monitoring during graded exercise testing in endurance athletes. Drake has given podium presentations on hormonal responses to both exercise and cognitive stressors, along with poster presentations on various sports science topics.
