Stuart Best (PhD, CSCS), Assistant Professor, University of Kentucky. Originally from Sydney, Australia, Dr. Stuart Best has worked in fitness and sports for over 20 years. His roles have included strength and conditioning coach, performance analyst, sports scientist, and assistant coach. He has worked with professional, collegiate, and amateur sporting teams in Australia and the US. Dr. Best completed his Ph.D. at the University of Sydney in 2010, and has conducted exercise physiology and performance research with athletes, military organizations, clinical populations, as well as the general public. Dr. Best is currently the head of the Sleep and Performance Research Group at the University of Kentucky. The group’s primary research interests are the effects of reduced sleep on physical function and performance, methods to optimize the prescription and adaptations to exercise training, as well as development and performance characteristics of elite athletes.
