Sam R. Moore, MS, CSCS*D, USAW is an applied sport scientist and HMSC doctoral candidate at the UNC-Chapel Hill's School of Medicine, working under the direction of Dr. Abbie Smith-Ryan. Her research interests center around integrating laboratory and field-based methodologies for female athlete sport science innovations to improve health and performance across the lifespan. Sam's scholarly record demonstrates a strong commitment to both research and translation, having successfully published 12 peer-reviewed articles, in addition to over 45 peer-reviewed abstract presentations at regional and national conferences. Prior to Carolina, Sam was with the NC State Wolfpack from 2019-2021 as the Director of Sport Science and Assistant Strength & Conditioning Coach; the first woman to serve in this role in the NCAA. At NCSU, Sam’s primary responsibilities were designing and implementing a revolutionary and evidence informed framework of women’s specific training design based on the hormonal landscape of the Wolfpack female athletes.
