Robert Powell, is Associate Professor of Exercise Science and Strength and Conditioning at Marshall University. Dr. Powell has years of experience in exercise and sport as well as clinical diabetes and sport. Since 2012, he has coached and consulted with Diabetes Training Camp™ working with individuals with Type 1 diabetes in managing their blood sugar and insulin levels to achieve their fitness and sport goals. In 2020, Dr. Powell created Powell Fitness Solutions, LLC providing coaching and consulting for athletes, coaches and parents to enhance fitness and sport goals. He received his PhD and M.S. in Exercise Physiology from the University of Pittsburgh and obtained his B.S in Health Science from Slippery Rock University. Dr. Powell holds the CSCS (NSCA), CEP (ACSM), CDCES (ADCES) certifications. His research involves exercise and sport with type 1 diabetes, youth training principles for performance enhancement and injury reduction, and exercise programming across the lifespan.
